Boost Your Curb Appeal

Attention to detail will help you get the best return on your investment.

Making a great first impression is important, especially when buyers are considering purchasing your home. The little details that make your home beautiful – even from the curb – can have a big impact and don’t require a huge investment. I always tell my sellers to take a little extra time to make sure their home looks its very best both inside and out. Here is what I recommend:

Sweep the front porch and steps. A clean front porch makes a great impression, and don’t forget to look up and remove any cobwebs or leaves. Also, make sure the light on your front porch is clean and working.

Create a sitting area. A couple attractive chairs and colorful pillows makes for a friendly, welcoming setting.

Tidy up landscaping. Pull any weeds, rake up leaves and sticks and trim any bushes. You want buyers to be able to see your home’s full potential.

Wash the windows (especially around the front door). Sticky little hands and wet dog noses leave their mark. Make sure the glass is sparkling.

Touch up the paint. Maybe your mailbox needs a face-lift or perhaps you have a poorly placed electrical box that is visible from the street. A fresh coat of paint (especially one that matches the paint color of your home) can brighten things up.

Spruce up your garage door. If you don’t have the budget for a new garage door, try adding some new hardware. This inexpensive option can add a lot of character to your doors.
